In the beginning, Tandy Bought Radio Shack, which was a free standing
company in Boston, with a just developing series of retail consumer stores
in the North East. Allied was a competitor.

In the beginning, before Tandy, RS was a well respected industrilal, jobber,
level parts source. This is where we hams went to buy oue 2E36s ans 6146s.

Don,

don't forget that Tandy also bought out Tech America about 8 years ago.  It
looked like Tandy bought it for its distribution chain as TechAmreica's
inventory showed up when going to Tandy online.  Now Tech America company is
gone and the inventory must be gone as well since you can go online to
Tandy's online page but can find very very few electronic parts to even
consider ordering.
