Tom - and the Greenkeys gang:
HAL loop supplies are all special order products, manufactured to
order. The LP-1200, LP-1200A, LP-1201, and LP-1203 are sold primarily to
export customers, very few to customers in the U.S. I think you will have
a hard time finding one of these on the loose. The LP-1210 may be an
exception as it is a MIL product and was sold only to the US military
(1989-1991). This might show up in surplus sales. This is a nice unit but
may be overkill for Greenkeyers as it has ten channels of MIL-188 to 20 mA
or 60 mA neutral loop (120V). Just invert RS-232 to get MIL-188. It has
an MTBF of 100,000 hours and is in a 7" high rack cabinet.
The other suggestions of using the loop power supply in a ST-5, ST-6, or
ST-5000 will work fine. Also note that the RS-2100 RTTY Scope also
included a loop power supply. You may also want to check the Fall, 2001
issue of "The New RTTY Journal" (Vol 49, No. 3, p. 7). I described a very
simple 120V, 60 mA supply that uses back-to-back filament
transformers. Contact Wayne Matlock at <K7wm at arrl.net> to get CD ROMs of
the back issues of RJ.
