The "sequenctial selector" in the Ebay Teletype brochure auction is the precursor to the
Model 28 sequence selector. They were used in Ma Bell's Service Order network in NY
from a to direct traffic (tapes) to various telephone company locations business office
(repair bureau, frame room, etc.). In New York Telephone it was called a "SOTUS"
switch...Sequentially Operated Teletype Universal Selector. Our units ran at 75wpm
and I do not recall one ever breaking. They were built with Model 15-vintage parts,
although most of the thing was pretty unique. It did have the (now) famous
Model 15 type of synchronous motor. It's job was to read the routing codes at
the beginning of tapes and switch "on" the loop to the receiving printer. We also had
a vintage dovetailed wooden selector "turret" that had lever switches that could
select the same codes manually. The turret was used if the sender had to hand-type
information to the receiving station or a tape was resent due to a paper jam or such
problem. The turrets sat on a shelf above a Model 14 TD on a Model 19 table.
The same shelf would sometimes hold a 14 reperf on other machine configurations.
