Maybe we are talking about different things here.  The motor I'm
referring to is the one that we were given pictures on the web
site http://www.mindspring.com/~vibroplex/motor3.jpg
which says on the nameplate it is a synchronous motor and does
not have any brush holders.  That one should not be sparking.
If someone is talking about a different motor that has brush
holders and is sparking than I'm confused.
