yes, the mailing list processor forwards the posting to you as if it had
been originated by the original sender, not by the list.  In other words,
the From: is set to the guy who sent it.  Additionally, it includes a Cc:
which contains the address of the mailing list.

So, if you do a regular reply, you will send back to only the originator
of the posting.  When you do Reply-All, you then also include the Cc:
which gets it to the list.

This is a really crude way of handling mailing lists unfortunately but
it is sort of the qth.net way.

Most other lists include a Reply-To: header which points to the list
and causes your MUA (email program) to send the reply there no matter
what is in the From: header.
