GreenKeyers - - -
ITTY is up and receiving incoming message which are sent to
itty at 207.207.72.32
They go into the queue and are processed just fine. Be sure to limit
your line length to 69 characters - makes those across the pond
happy.
A word to all who use ITTY.
The internet is an entity in whiich all manner of people with
nefarious intent abound, including Microsoft.
The problem found with ITTY was that for some reason a local SMTP
reader which resides within XP was turned on.
I believe this was a result of some windows updates which somehow
managed to sneak into the ITTY computer.
A computer can have only one program running which looks at a
particular port. In this case the resident windows routine
overpowered the SMTP reader routine which is a part of RTTY APP.
This was not easy to find.
I take a bit of umbrage with those who manage to piss and moan about
"something needs to be done" about "something for all" and appear to
want to make a federal case out of it.
I do believe that I have done more than anyone else to manage to
provide some manner of copyable signals for all of the teletype
machines that reside around the U.S., and the world, for that matter,
at virtually no cost to anyone other than my software GURU buddy Bill
Bytheway.
I spent 21 months providing ON-AIR transmissions with WA9XHN and
WC2XPF. When theFCC decided that BPL was gonna get the top priority
in their processes, anything such as I petitioned for was put down
hard by that esteemed body.
ITTY has been running for somewhere around three years now, and
though it is not perfect, it sure as hell provides more for machines
to do than does anything on the radio spectrum, W1AW, ETC.
One of the best features of ITTY is that ANYONE can put something
onto the circuit at very little trouble or hassle.
I have been graced by the likes of Wayne LeTourneau, his
grand-daughter Chandra, and Tom Tillson, who have spent literally
hundreds of hours providing additional new items for those who make
the effort to copy ITTY, doing what they do for the fun of it or
whatever reason that comes to mind. THANK YOU ALL!!!
ITTY is there for all to enjoy, and since I have gone back to work
for Rockwell-Collins my time is at a premium and I cannot do all I
would like to.
Now all of a sudden "Something has to be done" because ITTY is
screwed up. That's the breaks of Naval Air, I guess...
It got fixed as soon as was possible - Bill was only three hours back
from his vacation and I hated to call him before he had a chance to
change his socks, but I did, and he explained something and I did a
quick search and found the culprit - it got fixed - and now it works.
The relay of ITTY at readysetsurf.com to itty at 207.207.72.32 does not
work, but I will address that when there are some live bodies at
Nationwide Internet.
My advice is that when something has a problem, be somewhat gracious
about how you mutter and mumble in a crowd. I particularly don't feel
it appropriate to raise hell when you don't understand the long hours
behind some of the pet projects GreenKeyers expend on said projects..
Bill Buzzbee, Gil Smith, Jim Haynes, RiceGuy, Jack Hart, Don House,
etc., all have made significant efforts at doing things for the
GreenKeys group. I'm just one of those who will stand up and say
something when I feel it is necessary, and now I have.
Also, thanks to Bryan Brodie for his efforts at helping to get Remote
Desktop operational.
