Some results from playing with the W.U. modem;

1070 cycles is the idle tone from the tty or Mark
1270 cycles is the space tone when sending or rotary dialing
1830 cycles from the C.O. is the ringing and/or connect tone
         to seize the machine turning it on.

Am I correct in thinking every machine had different tones and therefore 
could all be on a common "pair" just responding to their own unique tones?

Unfortunately, the 1070 freq. is below the Dovetron's ability to tune for 
Mark.  There doesn't seem to be any way to change the freqs.  Could be 
unique to the printed circuit card in the box on the wall.  More research. 
Any input on this is appreciated.
