I don't have any information immediately at hand, but the solid 
state(?) selenium rectifier type of supply was far superior to the 
older tube-types that used mercury vapor rectifiers. You don't get 
any of the RF hash that accompanies the tube versions. And you don't 
have to worry about where to get those rare, oh-so-hard-to-find wierd 
tubes that were used in the early power supplies.
