Well, no.  Or not all of them.  There are two schools of thought or two 
approaches to setting an opening bid amount.  The one that I suspect most people 
here assume, and therefore probably the only one they know of, is to set it to a 
figure that is much lower than what you expect (hope) to receive.  This works 
when you are selling something that has a large potential bidder pool, and 
once in a while when what you are selling doesn't.  It's pretty obvious that 
vintage radio and TTY or other wire equipment generally speaking doesn't.  The 
other approach is to set the minimum bid at the smallest amount that will let 
you pack (properly pack, I might add) and ship the thing without complaining 
about the low selling price.  

I don't know which school the M15 seller belongs to but $75 is on the low end 
of what I would consider a fair price for a civilian M15 in probably decent 
condition.  So he could have been thinking either way.  If he belongs to the 
first school (whether he knows it or not), he's going to almost certainly be 
disappointed.
