[GreenKeys] Nice M15 on eBay

Good explanation Robert,
Sometimes email is not the best form of communication. It was not my
intent either to say that nice M15 was not worth anything.
The point I was trying to make is that many sellers have huge
expectations. Preservation and restoration are valuable also, not
just dollars.
$14,000 or more of my spent money sits in storage in San Diego. I
believed in what I was trying to do. All I could do was the best I
could.
I now have to hope and pray that the equipment will be well cared for
and exhibited, which is what I was trying to do when everyone
thought I was nuttier than a fruit cake.
I also paid $145. for a Model 37 ASR that was used on the Hot Line to
Moscow. I am paying shipment by shipment to get it here and rebuild
it for
display along with the explanations of how it was used. Perhaps this
is all for nothing. So far my wife says she understands. She
must be a saint and I guess I need to find a life somewhere along the
way.
Thank you for all you have done.

That is sad about the 28's. Unfortunately, years ago I had to let the
same
thing happen to a black wrinkle M19 with metal table. I just
literally didn't
have a place to put it at the time it was available. Later when I had
more
space, I sorta made up for it by becoming the temporary guardian of
another one
when a local Ham club got kicked out of their space downtown.
Eventually it
found a good home.
I didn't mean to imply earlier that I saw anything wrong with people
giving
away a Teletype machine or anything else. The second M19 is far from
the only
piece of Teletype equipment that I've given to someone who wanted it
and would
come and get it. But my point was that those who think that all TTY
machines
should be free for the asking regardless of who has them do us all a
dis-service when they say so to all and sundry. Word does get around,
especially over
the Internet. Someone who's ended up with one for whatever reason
does a
quick search, comes across numerous references indicating no market at
all, and
calls the scrap haulers to come and haul it all off.
