To me, a "Connex" is a steel shipping container.
Sounds like you are talking about a "communications shelter" that would
have been set on the back of an Army truck. Do you know what the military
designation of it is?? eg AN/GRC-46, AN/GRC-26, AN/GRC-142, etc ???
