Interesting article!  I'm struck with the parallel between the final quote: "Who
will send the last TELEX? Possibly me." and the work of Dick Dillman and the
crew at the marine historical society and KPH. http://www.radiomarine.org/

There are folks still 

- flying the legendary P-51 fighter, 
- Sending land telegraph around the country over telephone lines
- running one-cylinder steam engines and put-put gas engines from long ago
- and putting long-relied-upon coast radio stations back on the air.

Maybe a form of TELEX will last a very long time also.
