Al,
The UGC-77 uses a model 32 keyboard which outputs PARALLEL contact  
closures. The parallel signals are converted to serial by a  
distributor using miniature lamps and photocells.
The UGC-77 was designed for a USN TEMPEST application which requires  
the gold electrical service unit.  The only resource guy I am aware of  
that knows these machines well is Jack Hart.
