When I started working for Ma Bell in a Teletype gang in 1970,
I was flabbergasted that a large number of the guys in the
gang actually didn't LOVE working on TTY's(!). I guess the
fact that I had my first TTY at age 13 (and have yet to find
them boring) might have had an influence on my attitude.
There were those who would only work on 15's, others would only
touch a 28 (nobody liked 33's). And, there were some who
claimed they were Kleinschmidt experts and so they shouldn't
be expected to be Teletype experts, too. Even "management"
seemed to lean towards one model or the other as far as
expertise.
Go figure...
