In the case of the keyboard it is the keytop arrangement.
In the case of a typing unit it is the typebox arrangement
and the stuntbox arrangement. Likewise for Model 32/33
and for the typing reperforators there was the type cylinder
arrangement.
The information was recorded in drawings at the factory called
"analysis charts". These were mostly used by the sales engineers
to see if what a customer wanted was already coded or if a new
arrangement had to be coded. Most of the typebox arrangements
were slight variations on the three major ones: communication,
fractions and weather symbols. Others might be completely
scrambled, as for use on a computer console where the internal
code of the computer was nothing like Baudot/Murray.
