I collected and rebuilt telephone switching systems. From small step by
step to moderate sized crossbar PBX's and CDO's. (community dial office) It
was a phase I went thru before the TTY infection.
The switcher club has been dialing into each other's switches by internet
lately....they call it "CNet". I don't know anything about how it
works....I'm outta switching having filled the basement and two garages with
working SxS, crossbar and XY switches...all tied together so I could call
myself LOL
Below, Art Bloom another switcher nut, suggests the CNet for TTY OCD's like
myself. If anyone needs to understand how the CNet operates, contact Art
for details.

Subject: Y TTY ?
Why TTY? It's old, it smells, it's noisy, it requires constant care, nobody
appreciates it...oh...wait...that pretty much describes YOU, doesn't it?
Seriously, when you get them all fixed up and working, do you send and
receive to other collectors over ham bands, or do you set up a landline
connection with modems? You could all subscribe to CNet and set up your
TTY's the same way we Phone Phools are using the network for voice calls.
I'm sure that if you can use modems to interconnect your TTY buddies, you
could jump on CNet and combine the best of both worlds. Just a thought.
