Hi folks:
I wanted to thank you guys who answered questions and helped me become a
cub scout leader this year. It has been a crazy, busy, fun time, with
eleven second-graders, including my son Alec.
I thought you might like to see some of what we did this year. We uploaded
the year's pics to <http://walgreens.com/>walgreens.com -- it provides a
very quick way to scan thumbnails and then click to see the pic. You get
there from this link (needs a simple registration):

Bill Buzbee will notice that I used his laser-light-show idea, scabbing a
couple of mirrors onto portable fans -- kids had a lot of fun with that
one. Yeah, we added a mirror-on-a-speaker to modulate it as well (becomes
a circular oscilloscope). Joe Satriani provided the awesome guitar work
and bass-heavy tunes for the best display (not in person, unfortunately).
We also had some teletype machines, of course, with a working setup
including an M14 typing reperf, an M28-TD, an M31, and a M15.
And we did a nighttime rocket launch (with flashing lights in the
nosecones, for recovery), shooting six at a time, until the frickin'
security guard came by and told us "fireworks are illegal in the park; the
moose out front should have told ya."
Oops, am I irritating any sensitive folks by saying frickin' ? Let me just
apologize in advance then.
And we did the pinewood derby, cubmobile, campout, Veteran's Day parade --
yeah, it's been a fun year.
thanks again to everybody,
gil
