[GreenKeys] RTTY terminal units - what are you using ?

"Sound" is at the heart of RTTY. When I first informed the XYL that there
were those poor folks who actually used the mode without a machine she
responded with a puzzled look and finally commented that she didn't see how
there could be such a thing as teletype without the machine. Certainly all
of them have their own characteristic sound. Some of this is determined by
the table and how much of the original padding still remains but that
doesn't detract from the inherent strength of the mode! I can easily
understand why someone would be attracted to the slightly "clinky" nature of
the Model 26! My personal preference is for the sold hum/whirr/clunk of the
Model 15/19. But how can anyone fail to be attracted to the firm clack of
the Model 14 typing reperf?

But it's good to learn that others also appreciate one of the most basic
attributes of the mode! Thanks, Stan, for mentioning it!

Oh, yes! The ST-6 and a variety of terminal units from the handbooks and
QST articles of the 50's and 60's.
