The Model 40 uses a very special interface. It is like no other.
There is a company in San Diego that makes convertors for it.

When I find the information I will send it to you.

Hi Everyone,

A local ham here in St. Louis is a retired lineman for Western Union.
He has a Teletype Model 40 printer that he has been unable to
interface with a Windows machine since it has an RS-232 input (if I
understand him correctly).

Does anyone know how to interface a Windows machine (he has both a
Windows 98 an a Windows XP machine) with the serial input of the
Teletype Model 40 printer?

Thanks for any help you guys can give us!
