Welcome to Greenkeyers, Paul.
I have been out of town since I started the bidding discussion on the 32 on
ebay. Does anyone know what it finally went for? I decided not to bid after
the shipping went to $40. It probably would have cost $80 for shipping as
someone mentioned.
Model 32 are worth up to $200 for a good one in perfect working order. They
can be found for $25.00 sometimes, but much work to be done.
Model 33 are more in the $600 range for one in perfect working condition. I
have seen some for $50, but they need lots of work. At the high end, sometime
ago a few went for over $1000 on ebay. At that time I had none on hand, so
missed the peak time.
I used to sell straight 33 ASR's commercially, reconditioned, delivered and
installed for $590 in the 1980's. More $ for Telex and TWX machines.
They hold up far better than originally thought by design engineers. I have
seen some TWX machines with 1500 hours on the meter. Oil em every 100 hours
or so.
Thanks for all the consideration that was expressed for me related to the
ebay 32.
