KC0NNC's post regarding healing properties of distillates reminds me of a 
story related by my mother, who grew up on a sharecropper farm. She was 
splitting wood and the ax slipped and cut her foot badly.

Being afraid to face her father, she grabbed a lamp and poured coal oil into 
the wound, then bound it with a not-so-sanitary piece of rag.

Everything healed fine. By the way, she's still doing well at age 96.
