Hi Clarence:
If I recall correctly, your 33 has a Carterfone modem in it. If this is
the case, then it is designed to connect to a phone line for dial-out/in use.
If you are talking about a different 33, which has the "private-wire" CCU
(with the blank plate), then you should have either one-pair (half-duplex)
or two-pairs (full-duplex) of wires coming out of the CCU (depending on how
the 33 is jumpered internally). If this is the case, then you can hook it
to your TTY232 interface (though I would use the low-voltage loop, not the
high-voltage loop).
If you hook the 33 to your computer, keep in mind that the 33 uses ascii,
and you can talk to it with a program such as windows Hyperterminal. When
your TTY232 interface is connected to a 28 or other baudot machine, the
computer needs to be running a program such as HeavyMetal or RTTYArt, which
sends baudot directly to the serial port. Your TTY232 box does not provide
ascii-to-baudot conversion.
Does anyone recognize the wire colors of ID names of the wires coming out
of Clarence's 33?
thanks,
gil
