Western Numerical Control used to maintain the 43 reader-punches but
parts became scarce. The reader lids were not very well designed and
damage easily. WNC donated the last working reader-punch unit to our
museum about 6 years ago. Working on these units is frustrating. I
believe Teletype did not want to make the reader punch units and would
have preferred the customer use magnetic tape. The customers are not
always right, but they are always the customers.

Interesting comment by the seller:
"This item will ONLY be of use to, someone who is a collector, someone
who can perform the maintenance needed or someone who actually needs a
punch and can get the maintenance it needs".
Read carefully what he is saying here. When i worked TTY back in the
70's, these things were new. We had continuous problems getting one
to work. I only installed a couple of them and they are NOT USER
FRIENDLY FOR MAINTENANCE. Anything that went wrong with them at all,
the whole unit was returned back up the supply chain and a new one was
obtained. That price is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion.
YMMMV!
