RTTY.COM had been faltering and finally disappeared due to the fact 
that QTH.net experienced a major server failure.

It has apparently been necessary for the folks at QTH.net to 
completely rebuild the server from the ground up, which includes such 
things as a new hard drive, reloading linux and getting it operating 
properly, reloading Apache server and configuring/grooming it to run 
properly, reload the various websites and getting them to display 
correctly, then next to restore all of the user names and passwords 
for the websites supported by this server, and lastly test it to 
assure 100 per cent status.

Unlike the big commercial entities with a large, well-paid staff, 
this tasking is done by Al Waller and a small group of associates who 
do this as a contribution to the hobby we know as amateur radio.

His operation experiences better than 20,000 hacker and spam attacks 
daily. Imagine what that would do to any of us if someone started 
hammering incessantly, trying in one way or another to get into our 
knickers.

I will be sending Al a brand-new 200 GB Seagate Hard Drive as a small 
thanks for his support for RTTY.COM.

If any of you have any such trinkets that would possibly help him 
keep the monster he has created humming as well as it does I am 
certain he would appreciate it.

As a side note to any governmental official who might be reading 
this, the Chinese just the other day BEHEADED some geek who wrote a 
virus that royally screwed up their banking system. Sounds like a 
plan to me!!!
