Vertex (portables) pushed Motorola out of the New York City Police Department a few years
ago and Motorola was really squealing....I guess this is one way to fix that problem.
I thnk the FDNY is also going to Vertex. Interestingly, both NYC departments
only use analog radios with conventional repeaters. They are fervently anti-trunking and anti-digital,
although half of their communications is over NEXTEL.
