Hi Fred,

I hope I did not say that.  Several Teletype machines do have a  
moving platen with a stationary type carriage.
The Teletype Model 12 and the Model 26 are the best known machines.  
There may have been others.

The Model 101, 102, 103, 104, and 105 are Western Union  
teletypewriters built under contract by Underwood.
They all have moving platens.  They are not of Teletype manufacture  
nor design.
