Howdy Folks,
Got both of the RCA Comm. derelicts going. I tied their telco lines in
series with a 12 volt battery.
The German made control units start the machines when I press a button on
the dial box. The dial does nothing....I suspect the RCA supervisor who
brought them home decades ago bypassed the dial circuits.
Lots of Lithium grease, WD-40 and 3 in One oil have loosed up all the
clutches and pivoting parts. They're presently running at 67 WPM....hoping
to change that to 60 in the near future. I had to replace one dashpot as
the packing was refusing to come back to life with an oil soaking.
I think the Telex must've run thru something like a Step by Step C.O. where
the DC follows all the way from the Line Finder to the final Connector.
That way the DC to the control units is accessible from the "other end" once
the connection to another machine is made....is this correct???
Now, to try again to clean up the cabinets so they look better than a
Frankenstein movie prop. They are an ugly green wrinkle.
