Kerosene is best for cleaning. WD-40 will gum up when it gets hot.   
After you clean it you must use a different lubricant.
It should work fine with a regular 60 mil loop without all of the  
TELEX junque.

gears and change them out.  The Telex, I'm told, was all DC and no  
tones.  So, I'm going to scope out the Tip and Ring leads coming out  
of the control box and see if it will respond....probably was  
polarity keyed, not a good ole' 60 ma loop....time will tell.

I'm still trying to loosen up some stuck parts.  WD-40 is doing a  
good job penetrating.
