[GreenKeys] Why Dual Coil Electromagnets?

I have often wondered too, regarding the dual selector coils...
 
Possible ideas from me......
 
 
The reason for two coils... it is possible that one coil would be enough to 
run the machine? , and therefore should one coil open up, you would have some 
redundancy.
 
 
Also, perhaps they wanted a "balanced pull" on the selector arm pivot, and 
the dual coil would give that.
 
also... two coils allow for series / paralleling 20 ma, 60 ma.
 
any one else wondered for the reason of two coils in a model 15 and 19  ?
