As far as I know the last customers to use Model 40 equipment up
until year 2000 were:
Union Pacific Railroad
Canadian Armed Forces
An outfit called DATACAP in San Diego, California took over support
after AT&T dropped all support.
There is still a vestige of Teletype Corporation in Singapore that is
owned by at&t. One of 52 companies owned by the new at&t.
The last products known to me that were made by this outfit in
Singapore were the terminals used to monitor central office battery
plants.
Basically a dumb terminal with a dot-matrix printer... some
installations left off the CRT unit and used the printer with a
keyboard.
These were less expensive than the Model 43s. I have forgotten all
the model numbers but one was a 5310, another 5320 and also three-
digit numbers like 471 and such...
They show up on eBay sometimes... The advantage of these printers
was their ability to print a large range of code in a large range of
speeds.
