[GreenKeys] TTY activity

Not only does RTTY activity thrive during the contests, there is a lot
of great DX available to print almost every day. For example, I had a
nice QSO on 40M RTTY the other day with Manfred HZ1IK in Saudi Arabia.
That was followed up with a series of QSOs on 15, 17, 20, and 30 Meters
with XT2C, the DXpredition to Burkina Faso. Only a geography major or
perhaps ham radio operator interested in DX would have a clue where
Burkina Faso is located (in Africa, south of Mali, north of Benin and
Ghana, and west of Niger).

It is difficult to be competitive in a contest today using a
teleprinter, but it can be done. The advantage of the computer over a
teleprinter is the use of very concise macros that deliver the contest
required exchange information. I've duplicated these macros using
paper tape. My problem is the fact that I can't last the 24 or 36
hours that it takes to operate one of these contests.

Aside from contests and DX, I find folks to QSO with in NA, SA and EU
almost every day. Most, if not all, are using computers. Many had
teleprinters in the past and wish they had kept them. Right now, 20M is
open to EU and there are stations in Croatia, Spain and Portugal look
for QSOs.

Hopefully, I'll print more of the folks on this list using my Teletype
Model 28 in the very near future.

Subject: [GreenKeys] TTY activity

For those of you who don't have or operate on the HF bands, judging
from the activity during the contest last weekend there is no doubt
that RTTY activity thrives. Not only was there activity on 15 but also
on 20 (bunches of stations), 40M had 50 kc of rtty station activity and
80 was very busy on Saturday evening as well.

I wonder how many of them have heard of the greenkeys list? Didn't
print any stations that i recognize from the list here.
