After a dissappointing start on 20m the other week with my ex-NATO truck  mounted station, last evening, I disconnected my dipole, rigged-up a 5m whip antenna which was tied back to 45 degrees - sloping towards the target -( a modest 8 miles away) and successfully broadcast to a friend who was listening-in using his laptop + MMTTY in conjunction with his British Army manportable tranceiver.  100% copy - so very pleased.  We will be setting him up to transmit - in between the Christmas festivities.

Would be great if there were any other listening posts in UK who could join in - let me know on/off list if interested.
