This sent me scurrying for my copy of the Teleprinter Handbook, First 
Edition by Goacher and Denny, RSGB 1973.

If you look at the list of contributors, there are several US callsigns 
listed, including Irv Hoff, W6FFC. So the information on the TT4 may not 
have come from England. Maybe the book was intended for a world-wide 
readership, though the absence of most US teleprinters rather argues 
against that.

I notice that reference to the TT4 has disappeared in the Second Edition 
by Hobbs, Yeomanson & Gee.
