Chatham rectifiers are highly sought after by the Golden Ear
audiophile crowd. Some folks even sell them in "matched pairs. I
guess someone convinced them the 5R4WAG with its flat top, added some
sort of warmth to the sound if used with unidirectional oxygen free
cryogenically treated speaker cables.

6080's are as bad or worse.

It's got to where "they" have decided they want all of "our" tubes.
So, to fix up some of my gear, I can't get tubes for the same prices
I could 5 years or so ago, noooooo, folks have figured out
audiophiles will pay pretty much any price to get a specific type.
I've seen that "high water" 5R4 go for as much as $50 each! And if I
wanted 6080's to repair a regulated HV power supply? I've seen them
go for about that high too. Mind you, the average price is a bit lower.

On the glowbugs list I made a comment the other day wondering when
"they" were going to discover the 6146 for audio output, therefore
pricing *IT* our of our range. Someone already sells a class A audio
amp that uses an 833A! Not sure how many he's sold at 80k each
though... heehee
