RITTY is still available from K6STI.
The cost is 100 dollars. Each copy is personalized to the purchaser.
Use of a copy that is not set up for the user results in an
embarrassment message letting the world know that someone has a
"snitched" copy.
Jim's comments on the output to a COM port are incomplete in that the
output is also "diddle-filtered" so that if the incoming signal is
running diddle, the COM port output is squelched after two letters
characters, and opens again on the next non-letters character. This
is especially nice if one is running a reperf on the signal, in that
if the diddles were not squelched, a lot of what is becoming precious
reperf tape would be consumed.
Another consideration is that it was written around the SoundBlaster
16 series (and compatibles) boards and might not work with some of
the newer sound cards, or newer motherboards featuring on-board sound
systems. DX series computers with the old ISA bus structures are
available for free or a couple of bucks at garage sales, and would
most likely run forever humming along as a very sophisticated
terminal unit.
Anyone interested in contacting Brian, K6STI, contact me off-list and
I will put you in touch with him via e-mail. He values his privacy
and does not want the world to bother him.

George - W7TTY
