MMTTY is a program that runs on the computer that uses the sound card input 
and output for RTTY.  YOu go to any of several places mentioned and download 
the program.  I usually start here for the sound card programs.

Many programs are listed , some free, some you pay for.  Down load the 
program and hook the sound card to your PC speaker if running the ones that 
run windows.  YOu can usually copy the digital stuff if you just put your 
computer mic next to the radio speaker..

The MMTTY seems to be one of the easier programs to get going on RTTY. 
There is also a slow scan TV program by the same person called something 
like MMSSTV that seems to be very easy to get going.  It also uses the cound 
card to do all the work.

In other words the program uses the sound card input and output to convert 
the comuter to a 'glass teletype' machine.
