The German people did the most unspeakable thinks at all, that's 
endlessly sad but true. I don't know people who call the Nazis heroes. 
These exist, but not many. I think we have learned from our past. The 
"normal" German person tends to begin to cry when visiting one of the 
Nazi memorials around in Europe. Me too.

So as you described the atomic bomb as a good solution for the 
situation..... that may really be true. But getting into such a 
situation has to be avoided. By all parties. It doesn't help to say 
"history", "the Americans", "the Japanese", "the Germans". All together 
are responsible for the future.
I know that it's endlessly naive to simply demand peace. But with this 
kind of thinking perhaps the escalation of future situations can be 
avoided, at least partially.
