Howdy Folks,

I finished putting the AN/GRC-106A HF rig together last nite. It's an
exciter/receiver driving a 400 watt amplifier. The MD-522 is a TTY modem
generic to the radio set.

It has shifts of 850 Hz and 85 Hz....Viet Nam era radio. When in the 85 Hz
shift mode, you can transmit audio along with the TTY signal.

The big "test" was, will it copy narrow shift as used today. It did,
perfectly tonite on W1AW. Got a perfect pattern on the scope of the MD-522.
That unit has two loop supplies. Loop 1 drives my M28ASR. The modem also
detects loop keying by the KB and generates the tones for the transmitting
of TTY. No external TU's/oscillators necessary.

The blowers will make you deaf or more deaf in my case. It all runs on 28
VDC. Designed for continuous duty xmit. Lots of fun is here at last :>)
Anyone else running mil surplus gear?? I'll post a URL of the monster
later.
