I can say that the dimming of lights is not all bad. Back in the early thirties, I learned the code by watching the lights dim when my dad keyed his transmitter. Aboard the USS North Carolina BB-55 we copied coded 5 letter groups from NPH Honolulu radio at 28 wpm and press at 36 wpm. Could not have done this without the dimming of lights. John B in WV
