All - - -

One of the subtle aspects of a keyboard mounted typing reperf is that
in order to work correctly when switching between keyboard operation
to reperf is when in keyboard mode all of the transfer levers which
couple the output of the selector into the punch mechanism must be
disconnected from the selector.

Irv, W6FFC, used to have to type a "BLANK" character into his reperf
in order to accomplish proper operation, otherwise the last character
the selector had decoded would always be present irregardless of the
keyboard, and all one would get would be gibberish.

The manner in which ity is correctly done is that a true keyboard
reperf has a small lever shaped like a lower case H which is actuated
by a cam on the K-KT-T switch. When going to the K position it lifts
the transfer lever bail such that the character stored in the
selector is not coupled into the punch, and thus allows the code from
the keyboard to be correctly fed to the punch.

I don't have a manual handy so I can give the part number, but that
little h-shaped lever is all important. I have a couple, but one has
been promised to a friend in New Zealand (I ain't fergot, Tedzo).

I will rummage through my piles of boxes and try and find a 28ASR
parts manual and supply the part number.

Hope the above helps.

George - W7TTY
