except the Keyboard locked up

Well I've got the keyboard kind of working now, but whenever I hit a key, it does it twice. That is, after hitting the key one,
there is a pause, then it sort of trips again by itself. Also, I do get some garbage characters. On the perf. all I get are the
letters character punched no matter what key I depress.

It's pretty easy to unstick the keyboard...
first power off the machine
next put a screwdriver in your left hand and manually trip the keyboard clutch while turning the motor with your right hand.
You might want to concentrate on the lubrication of that clutch in particular...
Ribbon are as close as your local Staples. Ask for printer ribbons for an Okidata 82A.
