was 15 at the time, I did things I didn't know I should do: I used a
speaker transformer secondary with a capacitor across it as my MARK filter
(I don't need no stinkin SPACE filter...).

I borrowed a CV-87 for my model-19 table for MARS work. When I left Hawaii,
the owner of the converter borrowed it back, but I acquired a dual diversity
IF converter that came out of (I think) a GRC-26 van. my receivers were a
pair of SX-28As. I later built a TU that had the two torroids in a tuned
circuit and two transistors. I think that there were about a dozen
components in the thing not counting the power supply. The keying was a big
audio transistor with a bias pot to lock up the loop. On the transmit side I
used a twin-T oscillator. I used that for a couple years and then for
Christmas, I got a brand new ST-6000 and the DSK-3000. I still have the 6000
as well as an ST-6 I picked up somewhere and a URA-17.
