Whenever I see this I cringe. Anyone who really lives under such 
conditions can't have much of a life being married to someone who has 
zero understanding of the importance of hobbies. In my case my hobby and 
my work are almost the same thing (e.g. using former telco wire spring 
relays for broadcast audio switching) so losing my basement collection 
of radio and telephone stuff  would be catastrophic for me and that 
includes the Teletypes. Living alone my entire adult life isn't pleasant 
but at least I avoid that particular hazard.
