Just wanted to write a note of appreciation to Greenkeyers and amateurs here.
I have been studying to upgrade my technician license to general. Thanks to
generosity of a friend I have a Kenwood TS 520 S radio. I have it connected
to an end fed 62 foot antenna thru a tuner that was kindly sold to me at a
discount at a swap meet. I have a Hal ST 5000 also given to me by another ham.
It is connected (receive only) from the radio to a Telex machine (also sold to
me cheaply). I had to mal-adust the range finder, but was able to copy ARRL's
bulletin last night on 80 meters. Really need that 60wpm gear (181417) to
copy perfectly and of course to send when the time comes. Also, I dont have my
microphone hooked up to keep any temptations to transmit squashed.
Anyway, all the equipment was provided free or at a substantial discount. I
hope to get on air soon with voice and RTTY. Without the help and kindness of
others, I might be studying, but wouldnt have the fun of monitoring now.
Many public thanks to all.
