Assuming the message is authentic, there is just so
much missing from this eBay posting to properly sell
it to a knowledgeable collector.
First, I doubt its claimed value, if authentic. I'm
thinking it's a few thousand dollars, not millions of
dollars. Why not have it appraised by an appropriate
auction house and show us a pdf of the purported
million-dollar "value"? An item of "this" historical
significance and value would never find its way to
eBay, but would be known and purchased by collectors
through a trusted broker.
Second, it is likely to be only one of several
similar, if not identical messages that went to State
and the White House, among other places. The President
got his own message, he didn't need "Skip" to send it
over.
Third, there is no handwritten provenance from "Skip"
or a picture of her with the message.
Fourth, the actual dates of the German surrender and
the public announcement should be referenced using a
well known history of WWII. Why no references?
Fifth, what a stupid way of physically preserving the
message. If worth a million bucks, it shouldn't be
framed. It's probably stuck in the cutout with a piece
of scotch tape on the back!! The armed security is
likely a bank safety deposit box.
This sure smacks of high-flying salemanship!! Next up
is Muhammad Ali's training camp! Get in line.
