Hi Eugene:

I thought I saw your message get posted -- or did you post it again?

Lately, it seems there are a lot more messages getting rejected by our 
email servers and bounced back to greenkeys.  When this happens too much, 
our greenkeys subscription gets disabled.

Are you getting bounce messages?  Our list is supposedly set to put 
people's mail on hold after 5 days of bouncing.  After that it sends out a 
warning message once a week for 5 weeks.  This actually takes 6 weeks of 
bouncing total for someone to be removed.  Of course it has happened to me 
twice, but I have not been in the habit of watching the bounce messages, 
since there are quite a few sent to me as list moderator.  Plus, you need 
to scroll down into the bounce message to find the affected user, and see 
the offending message.  Such a pain.

Sometimes the bounce is triggered by something simple in the message -- 
recently, someone said in a post that something was "really cheap" and this 
message bounced as spam from my email provider, godaddy.com.

I got a bounce on a message posted by Tom K. since my server (godaddy) "did 
not accept email in non-Western (non-Latin) character sets."  I have no 
idea why this happened, but I have since changed my godaddy email account 
options to "allow" non-western characters, to maybe keep these greenkeys 
bounces from happening.  Dunno.  Annoying.

If I recall correctly Eugene, you also have a godaddy account 
(secureserver.net).  Are you seeing the same thing?

According to Tim, the main list guy at qth:  "Mailman passes plain text 
using almost any character set and converts html to plain text.  HTML 
messages with active links are rejected by the spam filter prior to 
mailman.  My thoughts are that the so called "non western character sets" 
are coming from your posters and being passed through mailman, but you 
would have to watch and see for yourself if it comes from the same people 
over and over again."

Yet I have seen html links in posts -- for example, in your message 
below.  So what the?  I know, I am supposed to be the one to answer these 
questions, but I just don't quite know much more than the basic mailman tuning.

The bottom line is, watch bounce messages, see if you need to tweak you 
email providers spam setting or something, and if greenkeys disables your 
subscription, either follow the re-subscribe steps, or just drop me a note 
and I will enable your account again.

Sorry about the hassle, but there is not much more I can do.
