[GreenKeys] Train wires to the Horizon

I know it's largely about the origins of Marse systems, but thought it
might be of interest to Greenkeyers.

Andrew Emmerson kindly gave me a copy of Railroad Magazine for March
1947 this week. I have been indulging my scanning skills and transcribed
the above article for wider circulation.

It traces the history of telegraphy and its close association with
railways. It pays particular attention to the involvement of the
Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company, who offerd Sam Morse a wayleave for
his first demonstration circuit. It culminates with a report of a trial,
revolutionary for the time, of facsimile transmission to a moving train.
(Yes, in 1947!)

Sorry for the size at 2,182 kB, but it is 28 pages long. I'll put a link
from the Repository page later today.

Cheers,

Sam
