Don,

Thanks for the thoughts. We are currently planning to hunker down
and ride it out. However, the 22:00 update was not good, to say the
least. I spent the day hauling stuff back to one of my storage
buildings, getting petrol, removing missile items, etc. Tomorrow we
have to finish the missile removal, figure out what's wrong with our
little generator, and get our paid eBay items to the PO so that at
least they will get out of town. And a few other items. The storage
buildings are all fairly well situated in that none have large empty
areas around them. The main one is a steel structure and should be
OK. The two smaller ones are corrugated steel over wood frame, and
less secure.

Here at the house, we have some trees around that may cause
problems. Never know. We are otherwise doing the best we can to
batten down. We have adequate supplies of food, water and fuel for
several days. Although water could get into the house if a tree gets
blown over onto it, otherwise we are in no danger of getting wet. I
have a large (overstock) supply of the lightweight 8x10 tarpaulins
that I normally use as a lean-to roof in front of one of the garage
overhead doors. I plan to spread some of them out over the boxes in
the attic in which my TM collection is stored. So if a tree goes
through the roof, the manuals will have some protection from the rain
until I can get a patch over the roof.

Fotunately, for the most part, the hardware can withstand a fresh
water washdown for a few days. So I'm not terribly concerned about
most of it.

If the forecasts worsen (if the projected landfall shifts further
east toward Houston), we may bug out. But probably won't make that
decision until Friday morning. In which case we will probably head
east into Louisiana before turning north and heading for my mother's
place in north Louisiana. At least tonight, with all of the
mandatory evacuations from the coastal cities going on, they are all
going north. I-10 east traffic is relatively light.

So, we'll see.
