My first employment in 1970 was for a firm building custom quality
control devices for production lines. The first such device I worked on
did QC on aspirin tablet samples, and used a Wang calculator (Nixie
readout) to determine mean & std. deviation of the samples, with
(parallel port) output to an IBM Selectric.

I have two of them in a cabinet at work. Mine were used in conjunction
with
Wang computers from the 70's. They would work for about a year before
needing to be cleaned. Geoff, K6TFZ
