I see that the subject of an autostart net is once again on the surface.

I heartily endorse any and all efforts in this direction. 3612.5 used to
be the biggie here on the West Coast, and I think it could happen again.

14075.00 used to be the hot one on 20 meters. There are a few people who
might take a little umbrage with using that freq., but higher up, even
maybe 14110.00 would not be too bad.

I have a lot of problems with the HF packet bunch, as it seems that the
attitude is "thou shalt not use my freq". The rules state that you don't
own a frequency. In many instances I am not so sure they have any
monitor receivers that look at the frequency before their packet
whiz-bangs start dumping data.

The ARRL bandplans I guess are gentlemen's agreements on what shall be
where, but, until recently I did not have much truck with the ARRL, as
it has/had the countenance of a "good 'ol boys" club. They have gained a
lot of respect from me with their yeoman's efforts on the BPL travesty
that is occurring. (My Navy LCDR nephew will be arriving later today for
a few days visit. . He's with the Naval Space Systems Command, and I'll
get out my thumbscrews and telephone magneto and see if I can get an
idea of the current Navy position on BPL. Film at eleven)

ARRL regional management here in the Northwest left me cold with their
attitude on the Washington Tower Law issue, as it seemed like since it
wasn't their idea, they were not much interested in supporting it. You'd
get a lot of huffs and puffs out of Newington, but the local guys would
not consider a regional e-mailing. I gave up on the Tower Law issue and
moved to a place that considers a man's proppity pretty much his own to
do with as he sees fit. I have a nice tower and a new SteppIR 3-element
yagi going in the air in the next couple of weeks.

I digress.. (kicks soap box back under the bench)

When the time comes you can be sure that there will be an autostart/WRU
here on the Northwestern tip of the USA. Roy Norris' efforts on the 10
megacycle frequency (megacycle = old farts concept of frequency) came to
naught, but I think the propagation vagaries just do not fit the
application. 80 and 20 meters work well.

Back to more wiring on the W7TTY Electronic Palace.
